Laura + Jon { engaged! }

They both went to University of Michigan, passed each other hundreds of times, never meeting.  Then one weekend when she was staying at a friend’s apartment, there he was. No more passing by, no more near-misses.  They met, they went out, they fell in love. Now here they are, planning their wedding.  They took Jamie and I to the U of M campus in Ann Arbor for their engagement session.  They gave us a tour of the grounds and all of the amazing buildings.  My eyes were wide, taking it all in, and I could feel inspiration turning to vision tingling all the way to my fingertips.  We started with the tulips…

Then over to all the cool buildings – I love the campus!  We could have shot there all day and not seen half of it.  Absolutely amazing!

They should both be models.  For reals.

I rarely take lighting along with me on an engagement shoot, and this was no exception.  I love to find and use natural light.  I just find it so beautiful –  I love the way it falls on skin and textures, and enhances shapes, colors and form.  Here, I’m using this great directional light and shadows.  I love the drama it creates!

I loved this tree – there was this hidden little courtyard that Jon showed us that Laura didn’t even know about!  Mmm, gorgeous light!

Laura changed into a great little red dress, and they took us to their favorite park, just outside the campus. It was amazing. Expansive and green, the grass wet from the rain we had that morning, the air heavy and smelling like lilacs.  I suspect that heaven feels something like this ~
