Welcome to the world, sweet little man! Your parents are so in love with you. You have made their lives fuller than they ever could have imagined; they are already over the moon, smitten with your sweet face and tiny hands. Andy is such a sweet dad already, and Christina is an amazing mother. She couldn’t take her eyes off you, nor the smile from her face. Baby Jackson… such joy you bring :)

Amanda & Ben’s baby girl is here! Well, she’s been here for awhile already, but I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. They used one of these images on their Christmas cards, so I wanted to make sure they were all delivered first! Little Quinn is absolutely precious and perfect! She has turned Amanda and Ben into loving parents, and made them all a happy, cozy little family. Isn’t life amazing?

Of course, we had to get a shot of her with her mama’s wakeboarding gear ;)

Awww, sweet baby girl! I want to hug her and kiss those tiny toes again! Little Genevieve was about 3 months old here for her baby & family lifestyle session. She is dainty and perfectly girly in every way, and full of personality already. Jacky and Erik are the happy new parents, blessed with this adorable baby girl. Jacky is such an amazing mama, and Erik is one of the cutest daddies ever! He sure loves his girls. J+E, we are so happy for you!! :)

I am SO excited to have Amanda and Ben back on the blog! I fell in love with Amanda when we first met a couple years ago. They weren’t even engaged yet, but she couldn’t wait another minute. I’ll never forget meeting her over coffee that morning. She was absolutely giddy, excited, a little nervous. We sipped lattes and gushed over wedding ideas, pictures, and speculated on when and how Ben would pop the big question. A couple months later, we were meeting again, this time with a little something shiny on her finger :) Over the course of her planning, their engagement session, rocking out at her bachelorette party, and photographing their amazing wedding, we became really close friends. I feel so lucky to have met her, I’m so glad to have her in my life. When I found out that I was pregnant with Asher, she was the first person I told. She jumped up and squealed, spilled her glass of water, and we hugged and laughed, both teary-eyed. When he was born, she was one of the first to come to the hospital and hold him. When they told us that they were expecting their first, we were just as excited as they were! We are SO happy for them to start their family. They are going to be amazing parents. I bet their baby girl will be wakeboarding as soon as she can stand up ;) I can’t even express how happy I am that we get to be new mamas at the same time, and that we get to experience this crazy thing called parenthood together! We love you guys!!!

Amanda, you are absolutely beautiful. Stunning.

{ Christina and Andy :: Expecting! }

I met Christina and Andy through my friend Abbey of 6.25 Paper Studio last winter. We all went up to Boyne Mountain for a fun weekend. I had just switched back from snowboarding to skiing… it was actually my first time on my shiny new (why yes, they are hot pink) skiis! I started skiing somewhere around 5th grade, and had been snowboarding for the last 5 years. Somewhere along the way I forgot how to maneuver on two skiis! Christina is a very good skiier and noticed right away that my form could use a little improvement. She kindly pointed out where I could try some adjustments in the way I shift my weight and balance. Immediately, I was more confident and ready to keep up with the group! I thought of that afternoon when Christina told me that she and Andy were expecting their first child. She is going to be an amazing mom and teacher. She’s patient, kind, and shares Andy’s sense of humor and wit. Together, they are going to be incredible parents! That little peanut is one lucky babe, and I can’t wait to meet him next month!

I’m in love with their home… and acres upon acres of tall trees!

We are overjoyed to announce the birth of our first son, little Asher! He was born on May 1 2011 at 7:37 pm, weighing 7lbs 7oz, and measuring 20 inches long. He is perfect in every way, and we are positively smitten!

We knew early on in our pregnancy that we were going to want maternity pictures. We went back and forth on which photographer to choose… someone local? A friend? A famous “rockstar” photographer that we really look up to? Someone with our style, or something different? In the end, we chose someone who is all of it and more. Our friend Sam of Shutter Sam Photography. Sam has become a very good friend of mine personally, as well as someone I look up to and respect as a photographer. She sees in a way that I don’t, but can also capture the exact vision I have in mind. She is both our style, and the opposite of our style. She is inspiring and uplifting to be around, and I can’t imagine having anyone else. Which is why she will also be photographing Asher’s first moments in this world. We are 39 weeks today, and Sam is on speed dial along with our parents.

We are ready, sweet boy. We can’t wait to hold you in our arms, and kiss your tiny face!

{ Orin :: 9 months }

Remember this little cutie from his newborn session? He’s growing up and looks quite a bit different now, but still has those beautiful eyes and perfect little chin that I’m crazy for! I love watching his personality come through in his funny expressions – he’s a total goofball, yet such a snuggly sweetheart!

Juan and Kristen too! They are such fun parents, you can tell they’re loving every minute of it!

One of Orin’s favorite things to do is look through his photo albums, so Kristen brought them along. Adorable!

And of course, we couldn’t end our session without going out in the snow! I love kids in hats with ears. I don’t know why, it’s my weakness.

{ Little Violet :: 6 months }

I adore little miss Violet – her bright blue eyes have a way of capturing your heart at first sight! She is full of sweet adorableness, and was such a pleasure to photograph! It’s not often I shoot in a studio setting, but it was a fun and refreshing change on this snowy Michigan afternoon. Going through her pictures, I kept catching myself smiling, awww-ing, and giggling at the outtakes. I think I need to photograph the little ones more often :)

Does she have you by the heart yet? Thought so :)

Baby love! Little Audrey is so tiny, so precious, so perfect. I was so happy to get to meet and photograph her, and I (we!) are SO happy for her parents, Jenni and Brad! I can already see that Jenni is an amazing mom, and that Brad is a wonderful dad. And as for little Audrey, she is going to be beautiful, kind, and bright. Ready for a little baby fever? { Little Jack and Family }

I love little Jack! He’s about 4 1/2 months old, and all kinds of cute! We met on a gorgeous fall afternoon in Grand Rapids for a family lifestyle session. Their session was a baby gift from a bride of mine, the beautiful and amazing Lander. She called to tell me about Jack, and offered to give them a family session as a gift. I thought that was SO sweet and thoughtful! Christina and Josh are wonderful people, and I love their little family. They even brought their Golden Retriever, Bailey along! I just love sessions like this. In Landers words, they make my heart all sparkly :)

Aww, nothing like a mama and her baby boy. Adore these! :)

{ Millie :: Little Cutie! }

I am SO very excited to introduce Millie! If you’ve been a long-time blog reader, you just might recognize her parents – they were the third wedding I ever photographed! The THIRD! (Want to see it? It’s right here! Excuse the weird formatting and logo – things have changed a bit in the last couple years!) I am so happy for Colette and Matt; they just celebrated their two year anniversary on August 9th, and their baby girl will be a year old this winter. I absolutely love them as a new little family. They live in Massachusetts, but planned a trip to Michigan for a few days to visit their families. I am so glad we were able to get together while they were here! It was awesome to catch up, and of course, to meet little Millie! Is she adorable in her Burberry dress or what? Those eyes, that smile, that hair!! Eeee! :)

Jamie had shot their wedding with me, so I brought him along to their baby session as well. It was fun for all of us to catch up. Millie was glad he came too… she was enamored, and kept giving him these cute flirty little looks. It was SO cute!!

Yup, she’s looking at Jamie in this one too!

I love this one – her hair is all wild and beautiful, and I love how she’s studying the grass. She’s not sure if she likes it touching her skin…

Gah, she’s SO cute! I can’t get over it :)

I still remember when we met Lindsey and Matt for dinner, I ordered a glass of wine and Lindsey didn’t. I wouldn’t have thought much of it, but that smirk and glimmer in her eyes gave it all away. They were expecting their first! It was wonderful following along with them through their pregnancy, and I was absolutely giddy when she called to tell me that little Ellisyn had arrived. I’ll be over on Monday.

I am SO happy for my friends Kristen and Juan! Ever since I met Kristen, she’s talked about wanting a family. And after spending some time with them and their new baby last week, I already know they’re going to be amazing parents. And little Orin is undoubtedly going to be a super cool kid! He’s already crazy cute!

These sleepy pictures were no easy task… Orin wanted to be awake! He’s very alert, and very strong! Did I mention adorable? Look at that chin! Eeee!
